Terms of Service

The rules of the platform. Short version: be honest, don't abuse the system.

Effective date: 30 October 2026 · Version 1.7
Version 1.7 adds how the talent pool import works: what an organisation may upload, what it must confirm, and what happens to the people it adds (sections 4 and 5). Version 1.6 (26 October 2026) adds how pipelines, interviews, references, offer letters and the equity summary work (sections 4, 5 and 10.6), and states that company verification is optional. Version 1.5 (21 October 2026) adds how we handle reports about users and endorsements of job seekers (sections 11 and 12). The sections after them are renumbered 13 to 19. Version 1.4 (15 October 2026) adds how plans, limits and charges work: what happens when a paid period ends, requisition and seat limits, team invitations, unlock overage, message threads, and Professional-only features (section 10). Version 1.3 (14 October 2026) added a launch price lock (section 9). Version 1.2 (14 October 2026) stated the end date of the Free Professional launch offer and the 30-day period after it (section 8). Version 1.1 (14 October 2026) added terms for job seeker credits and the AI tools, launch offers, workplace attendance records, shareable profile links, and a complaints procedure. Version 1.0 was effective from 16 September 2026.

1. Definitions

  • Platform: the SilinRecruit website and application, operated by Silintithia (Pty) Ltd.
  • Recruiter: a user registering on behalf of an organisation to search for and hire candidates.
  • Job Seeker: an individual who creates a free profile to be discovered by Recruiters.
  • Subscription: a paid plan (Starter, Professional, or Enterprise), bought one billing period at a time, granting a Recruiter organisation a set of included benefits.
  • Unlock: the paid action of revealing a Job Seeker's full contact details and profile to a Recruiter, either via a subscription's included monthly allowance, an overage unlock bought in advance (section 10.4), or a Pay As You Go credit.

2. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or otherwise using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

3. Account registration

You must be at least 18 years old and based in South Africa to register. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your login credentials confidential. You must notify us promptly of any unauthorised use of your account.

4. Job Seeker terms

You must provide accurate information in your profile. Misrepresenting your identity, qualifications, or work history is prohibited and may result in account suspension.

Your profile becomes searchable only after you give explicit consent. You may withdraw that consent at any time from your Privacy Settings, at which point your profile is removed from all searches immediately.

You can share a personal profile link. Anyone you give the link to can view the profile without an account. You are responsible for who you share it with. Hiding your profile switches the link off.

References. You can save up to three referees. We contact a referee only after you approve a request from an organisation that has unlocked your profile, and you can decline any request. Only use people who have agreed to be your referee, and use their own contact details, not yours. The organisation sees what your referees write. You do not.

Offers. An offer made through the Platform is only accepted when you type your full name and tick the confirmation. We record the time, your device and IP address, and a fingerprint of the letter with your acceptance. You do not have to accept, and you can decline. Read the whole letter first.

If an organisation added you from its own list. An organisation can add the details it already holds about you to a private list, and we email you once to say so. Until you claim your profile, nobody can search for you and nothing is shared. If you do nothing, we delete those details 60 days after the email. You can choose "This is not me" or "Do not contact me again" in the email at any time, and either one deletes them straight away. If you claim the profile you create an account, accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy, and stay hidden until you choose to be searchable. An organisation that added you keeps seeing your profile only while you leave it there, and you can remove it from your profile at any time.

You may not use your profile to post prohibited content. This includes false information, contact details belonging to someone else, or content that is abusive, discriminatory, or unlawful.

5. Recruiter / Company terms

Recruiters must maintain an active Subscription or sufficient Pay-As-You-Go credit balance to use paid features. Credits and subscription allowances are for your organisation's own hiring use. Reselling access to the talent pool is prohibited.

30-day platform requirement. Once you unlock a candidate's profile for a requisition, you may not solicit or move that candidate to a hiring process entirely outside the Platform for a period of 30 days from the unlock date. This protects the integrity of the marketplace for both Job Seekers and other Recruiters.

Recruiters must comply with the Employment Equity Act and all applicable South African labour law in their use of B-BBEE filtering and any hiring decisions made using information obtained through the Platform. SilinRecruit provides tools for compliance reporting but does not guarantee legal compliance on your behalf.

Company verification. Verifying your company is optional. If you submit details, they must be accurate and yours to give. Unverified organisations can still use the Platform, and job seekers see "Not yet verified" next to them. We may reject or withdraw verification if the details are wrong.

Pipelines, notes and rejections. You can add a candidate to a pipeline only after you have unlocked their profile. Adding a candidate does not unlock anyone and never costs an unlock. Notes and scorecards are seen by your own team only. When you do not select a candidate you must give a reason category, and the candidate is told only that category. You must not discriminate unfairly when you rate, reject or hire.

Interviews, references and offers. Scheduling an interview in a conversation is free. SilinRecruit does not host video calls, and you are responsible for any meeting link you share. You may ask for references only for a candidate you have unlocked, and only up to three times for each candidate. A reference is shared with you only to assess that candidate, and you must keep it confidential. An offer letter is only binding once the recipient accepts it. The offer template is a general draft and not legal advice. You are responsible for the contents of your offer and for the written contract of employment.

Talent pool import. A verified organisation may upload a CSV or Excel file of people it already holds details for. Before each upload you must confirm that each person gave you their details or applied to you, that you may share them with us for this purpose, and that you will not upload anyone who asked you to stop contacting them. You may upload only the fields we ask for and must not include phone numbers, ID or passport numbers, health, race, gender or other sensitive details. We drop those columns and remove numbers found in text, but you stay responsible for what you upload. Limits apply to each upload, to each day and to the total in your pool, and we may pause imports or change the limits if people object. We email each person once, with a link to claim, to say "This is not me" or to say "Do not contact me again". Anyone who asks not to be contacted is never added or emailed again, by you or by any other organisation. An imported person is private to you: you can see them in your own talent pool and add them to a pipeline, but they are not part of search, and nothing is unlocked or charged until they claim and make their profile visible. People who do not respond are deleted 60 days after the email.

Programme records. If you record learnership or internship details and export participant lists, you are responsible for having a lawful basis to hold and share that information, and for protecting the export, which contains ID numbers.

Attendance records. If you use the Platform to record the attendance of workers, you are responsible for telling those workers what is recorded (including clock-in times and, where their device shares it, GPS location at the moment of clocking), for having a lawful reason to record it, and for the accuracy of the sites and rules you configure. You must not use clocking data for any purpose you have not disclosed to the worker.

6. Payment terms

All payments are processed via PayFast. Subscriptions bill monthly in advance from your signup date. Pay-As-You-Go charges are billed per transaction.

Refunds. Pay-As-You-Go credits are non-refundable once purchased, except where required by law or where a Job Seeker withdraws consent after a Recruiter has unlocked their profile (in which case that specific unlock is refunded). Subscription downgrades are pro-rated at the next billing date; subscription cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period with no partial refund for the remaining days.

7. Job Seeker credits and AI tools

Job Seekers can buy credits (or an AI Tools subscription) to use the AI tools: job-fit scoring, cover letters, CV optimisation and interview practice. Each tool shows its credit cost before you use it. Credits are non-refundable once purchased, except where required by law, and are used only on the Platform.

AI output is generated automatically and may be wrong or incomplete. It is a suggestion, not advice or a guarantee of a job. You are responsible for checking anything you send to an employer. Do not paste information into the AI tools that you do not want processed as described in the Privacy Policy.

If an AI tool fails to deliver a result, the credits for that attempt are returned to your balance.

8. Launch offers and plan changes

From time to time we may give Recruiters access to a higher plan at no charge as a launch or promotional offer. Unless we say otherwise in writing, a promotional offer can be withdrawn on 30 days' notice.

Free Professional launch offer. Until 31 January 2027 (end of day, South African time) every Recruiter organisation can use the Professional plan at no charge. After that date the offer ends and you will have 30 days (the grace period) to choose a plan, during which your organisation keeps its Professional features. We will tell you by email and in the app, including reminders before the end date. If you have not subscribed when the grace period ends, your organisation moves to Pay-As-You-Go. We may end the offer earlier or extend it; if we end it earlier, you still get at least 30 days' notice. Promotional access creates no payment obligation, and you keep your data when your plan changes.

Some plans (such as Enterprise) may be shown as "Coming soon" and cannot be bought until we open them. We may change plan prices and inclusions for future billing periods with reasonable notice.

9. Launch price lock

If you start a paid Starter or Professional subscription on or before 28 February 2027 (end of day, South African time), the monthly fee for that plan is locked at the price in force on the day you subscribe, for 12 months from that day.

  • What is locked. Only the monthly subscription fee. What the plan includes (such as active requisitions, unlocks and seats) follows the plan as it stands. Overage and pay-as-you-go prices, for example the price of an extra unlock, are not locked.
  • Changing plan. If you change plan on or before 28 February 2027, the new plan's monthly fee at that time is locked for 12 months from the change. After that date, changing plan moves you to the plan's then-current price.
  • Losing the lock. The lock ends if you cancel your subscription, or if it lapses: a payment is more than 30 days overdue. A short delay while a payment is retried does not end it. If the lock has ended and you subscribe again, the then-current price applies.
  • When it ends. After the 12 months you move to the plan's then-current monthly price, from your next payment. We will email you about 30 days before.
  • Free access. Using Professional free under a launch offer (section 8) is not a paid subscription and does not start a lock. The lock starts when you subscribe.
  • Our right to stop offering it. We may stop offering the price lock to new customers at any time. We will honour every lock already granted until it ends.

10. Plans, limits and charges

  • 10.1 When a paid period ends. If a Starter or Professional subscription is not renewed, your organisation keeps its plan limits for a 3-day grace period, then moves to Pay As You Go. Nothing is deleted: your requisitions, candidates, users and messages stay in your account.
  • 10.2 Requisitions. Starter allows up to 3 active requisitions at a time (open or on hold). Professional and Enterprise have no cap. On Pay As You Go each new requisition costs R200, charged once when it is created. Editing, closing or reopening costs nothing extra.
  • 10.3 Seats and team invitations. Pay As You Go and Starter include 1 seat, Professional 3 and Enterprise 10. Owners and administrators can invite colleagues by email; only an owner can invite or remove an administrator. Active members and pending invitations each use a seat. An invitation is a single-use link that expires 7 days after it is sent, and the seat limit is checked when the invitation is sent and when it is accepted. Anyone you invite must accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy when they create their account. If you are over your limit, existing users keep access but you cannot add more until you are within it or upgrade. Removing a member frees the seat and their work stays with your organisation.
  • 10.4 Unlocks and overage. Your plan includes a monthly number of unlocks (Starter 25, Professional 100, Enterprise unlimited). After those, each extra unlock costs your plan's overage rate (Starter R90, Professional R50) and is paid for with overage unlocks you buy in advance from your billing page. Overage unlocks do not expire. If you have none left, we ask you to buy more before the next unlock. You are never charged the Pay As You Go rate while subscribed. A candidate you have already unlocked for a requisition is never charged again for that requisition and stays visible to you. Included unlocks are counted per billing period, or per calendar month while you are on a promotional Professional plan. Overage unlocks can only be used while your organisation is on Starter or Professional. If you move to Pay As You Go they stay in your account, cannot be used there, and can be used again if you re-subscribe. Overage unlocks are not refundable except where the law requires.
  • 10.5 Messages. On Pay As You Go, starting a new message thread with a candidate costs R75, charged once per thread. Replies in a thread are free.
  • 10.6 Professional features. Saved searches with alerts, the analytics dashboard, the equity summary and offer letters are included in Professional and Enterprise. We may allow offer letters on another plan at our discretion. On Starter and Pay As You Go, saved searches you already have stay visible, but new ones cannot be created. The equity summary is a working summary from consented profiles. It is not an official Employment Equity submission, and we do not collect gender or disability information.
  • 10.7 Changes. Prices and limits are shown on our pricing page. We will tell you before any price change takes effect.

11. Reports and conduct review

You may report another user if you reasonably believe they are misleading, unprofessional, abusive or unlawful. Reports must be truthful and made in good faith, and false or malicious reports breach these Terms. We may investigate, ask the person reported to respond, remove content, and suspend or close accounts, acting reasonably. Reports are confidential and we need not tell you the outcome beyond confirming that we reviewed it. Reporting to us does not replace reporting crime to the police.

12. Endorsements

A recruiter may endorse a job seeker only if their organisation unlocked that profile or messaged that job seeker. An endorsement must be honest, based on real dealings, positive, free of discriminatory content and must not reveal other candidates' information. It is the endorser's opinion, not Silintithia's, and we do not verify it. Endorsements are shown only with the job seeker's approval. Nobody may pay for, or be offered a benefit for, an endorsement. We may remove any endorsement. At launch, endorsements do not affect match scores or ranking.

13. Intellectual property

The Platform, including its design, code, and branding, is the property of Silintithia (Pty) Ltd. Job Seekers retain ownership of their own profile content; by publishing it on the Platform, they grant Silintithia a licence to display it to Recruiters as described in these Terms and the Privacy Policy.

14. Prohibited conduct

You may not:

  • Scrape, harvest, or bulk-export data from the Platform outside of documented API access.
  • Create fake accounts or profiles, or misrepresent your identity.
  • Circumvent the unlock system to access candidate contact details without payment.
  • Use the Platform to discriminate unlawfully in hiring.
  • Interfere with the Platform's operation or attempt to breach its security.

15. Termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms. You may close your account at any time; Recruiter subscriptions are cancelled per the payment terms above, and Job Seeker profile data is handled per our Privacy Policy's retention rules.

16. Limitation of liability

SilinRecruit provides a matching and communication tool. We do not guarantee any hiring outcome, the accuracy of any user-submitted profile or requisition, or that any match will result in employment. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Silintithia (Pty) Ltd is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Platform.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, including POPIA and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act. Any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 or other law that cannot lawfully be limited.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of SilinRecruit after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
